On a fine mission since 2016
Some of these figures are over a hundred years old, rescued from closed-down porcelain manufactories. We were lucky enough to save a great number of moulds and precious models from destruction. The animal sculptures were masterfully crafted by the modellers of their time - touching, elegant, proud characters that we are determined to preserve, and whose stories live on with us.
Proud characters
The figures - among them dachshund, squirrel, penguin, and French bulldog - are made using traditional slip casting. Each animal is formed individually, assembled from several parts, and permanently fused to its vessel in the kiln. We haven't worked through all our stock yet - so new friends will keep joining the collection.
History meets a new home
From this encounter between history and contemporary design come tender combinations and one-off pieces that connect different eras of traditional porcelain making.
The figures have long since become our friends. Now they get to move into their new homes - to find a place in everyday life, and in the heart.
Moulds and models
Our model store still holds many treasures. Every figure is a challenge when we demould it for the first time, assemble it, and take it from the kiln. We look forward to the pieces still to come.
